The Friday evening commute could be a nightmare as the Newtown area could see its third snowfall in a week.

The National Weather Service said Friday morning that up to 2 inches of snow could fall in Lower Bucks County Friday afternoon into the evening.

The snow is expected to start between noon and 2 p.m. Meteorologists said the storm could result in slippery driving conditions during the evening commute.

The surprise snow event came into focus Thursday into Friday morning.

According to data, Philadelphia has already received 5.5 inches of snow this month. The usual average for this point in December is 1.4 inches and last winter only had a trace amount of snow.
