Newtown Athletic Club Owner Takes Local Sports Teams To White House

Two local youth sports teams visited the White House this week with Newtown Athletic Club owner Jim Worthington.

The Lower Makefield Flag Football team for boys ages 9 to 13 and GPS Crush Volleyball team for girls ages 9 to 13 visited the White House Wednesday as guests of Worthington, who was recently appointed to the President’s Council on Sports, Fitness, and Nutrition.

“The opportunity for these young athletes to see their sports heroes as well as a sitting president was perhaps a once in a lifetime experience that I was honored to be able to provide through my recent inclusion on this auspicious council,” said Worthington.

The youth were able to play toss with Worthington and some members of the President’s Council on Sports, Fitness, and Nutrition, which is made up of Herschel Walker, Mariano Rivera, Bill Belichick, Dr. Oz, Lou Ferrigno and Misty-May Traenor.
