October 20
Fraud
A Newtown Township resident contacted police around noon to report fraud. The resident explained that she attempted to sell a watch online, but was scammed into purchasing prepaid gift cards for the supposed buyer instead. The total value of loss was $1,500.
Fraud
A Newtown Township resident contacted police at approximately 4:45 p.m. to report fraud. Someone fraudulently transferred funds from her bank account, and the total value of loss was $1,000. The bank is investigating the matter.
Public Intoxication
At approximately 7 p.m., police were dispatched to a Newtown Township establishment for the report of a disturbance. As a result of the investigation, two male subjects were issued citations for public intoxication.
October 22
DUI
At approximately 11:30 p.m., police conducted a traffic stop on a Mercedes-Benz operator for committing a vehicle code violation in the area of Linton Hill Road and Washington Crossing Road. Upon contact with the operator, the officer detected the odor of alcohol. The operator was unable to perform field sobriety tests satisfactorily and was placed under arrest for suspicion of driving under the influence. Charges are pending blood evidence results.
October 23
Ethnic Intimidation
Shortly before 8 a.m., police were dispatched to a Wrightstown Township residence for the report of a disturbance. As a result of the investigation, one female subject was charged with ethnic intimidation and criminal mischief – damage to property.
October 24
Fraud
A Newtown Township resident contacted police around 3 p.m. to report fraud. Someone hacked her computer and attempted to transfer $15,000 from her bank account. The investigation is ongoing at this time.
Fraud
A Newtown Township resident contacted police at 3:30 p.m. to report fraud. She was the victim of a computer scam and transferred $1,200 to an unknown party to correct a fictitious computer hack. Once she realized it was a scam, she was able to notify her bank in time to prevent the loss of funds.
October 25
Arrest
At approximately 10:45 p.m., police conducted a traffic stop on a Toyota Highlander operator for committing a vehicle code violation in the area of the Newtown Bypass and Woodbourne Road. As a result of the investigation, the operator was taken into custody, processed, and transported without incident on an active arrest warrant out of Montgomery County.
October 26
Fraud
At approximately 2:45 p.m., police were dispatched to the TD Bank located on West Road for the report of fraud. As a result of the investigation, one male subject was taken into custody and charged with identity theft, forgery, and attempted theft. The subject was arraigned by Judge Gambardella and remanded to Bucks County Corrections on $100,000 bail.
Harassment
Around 9:30 p.m., police were dispatched to a parking lot located on Swamp Road in Newtown Township for the report of a disturbance. As a result of the investigation, two juvenile male subjects were cited with harassment.
