December 15
DUI
Around 4:30 p.m., police were contacted in regards to an operator suspected of driving under the influence. Upon contact with the operator, the officer detected the odor of alcohol. The operator was unable to perform field sobriety tests satisfactorily and was placed under arrest for suspicion of driving under the influence. Charges are pending blood evidence results.
Assault
At approximately 5:40 p.m., police were dispatched to a Wrightstown Township residence for the report of a disturbance. As a result of the investigation, one male subject was arrested and charged with Aggravated Assault, Simple Assault, Disorderly Conduct, and Harassment.

At approximately 11:35 p.m., police were dispatched to a Wrightstown Township residence for the report of a disturbance. As a result of the investigation, one female subject was arrested and charged with Simple Assault, Disorderly Conduct, and Harassment.
December 19
DUI
At approximately 12:15 a.m., police conducted a traffic stop on a Chevy pick-up truck operator for committing a vehicle code violation in the area of the Newtown Bypass and Campus Drive. Upon contact with the operator, the officer detected the odor of alcohol. The operator was unable to perform field sobriety tests satisfactorily and was placed under arrest for suspicion of driving under the influence. The operator refused to submit blood for chemical testing, and charges are pending.

At approximately 4:15 a.m., police conducted a traffic stop on a Mazda CX5 operator for committing a vehicle code violation in the area of the Newtown Bypass and Summit Trace Road. Upon contact with the operator, the officer detected the odor of alcohol. The operator was unable to perform field sobriety tests satisfactorily and was placed under arrest for suspicion of driving under the influence. The operator refused to submit blood for chemical testing, and charges are pending.
Fraud
A Newtown Township resident contacted police at 3:35 p.m. to report fraud. Someone attempted to fraudulently open a bank account with his personal information. The incident was documented, and the resident was advised to contact his banks, credit card companies, and credit bureaus to monitor his accounts further.
December 20
Assault
At approximately 10 p.m., police were dispatched to a Newtown Township residence for the report of a disturbance. As a result of the investigation, one male subject was arrested and charged with Simple Assault, Disorderly Conduct, Harassment, and Criminal Mischief.
Fraud
A Newtown Township resident contacted police to report fraud. The resident explained that someone tried to impersonate her and trick someone that she knew into a gift card buying scam. The attempt was immediately recognized as a scam, and there was no monetary loss.
December 21
Fraud
A Newtown Township resident contacted police shortly before noon to report fraud. A bank account was fraudulently opened with his personal information. The incident was documented, and the resident was advised to contact his banks, credit card companies, and credit bureaus to monitor his accounts further.
Harassment
At approximately 1:15 p.m., police responded to a Newtown Township residence for the report of a disturbance. As a result of the investigation, one male subject was cited for harassment.
Attempted Fraud
A Newtown Township resident contacted police around 4:45 p.m. to report fraud. The resident explained that she received a phone call from “Jacksonville PD” and that the caller claimed to be “Captain Davinport.” The captain stated that the resident missed her court date and that they had court orders for her failure to appear and contempt of court. He claimed that she owed $20,000 to the court and instructed her to send money to a cash app. The resident recognized it as a scam and did not suffer a monetary loss.
December 22
Identity Theft
At approximately 11:30 a.m., a Newtown Township resident contacted police to report identity theft and attempted wire fraud. The investigation is ongoing at this time.
Patrol
Throughout the afternoon and evening, a bicycle patrol was conducted throughout the Village of Newtown Shopping Center on South Eagle Road and in the area of Goodnoe’s Corner and Sycamore Street. The patrol was conducted for officers to engage community members and business owners to increase police visibility during the holiday season and help reduce crime in the business district.
Attempted Fraud
At approximately 12:15 p.m., a Wrightstown Township resident contacted police to report fraud. The resident explained that he received a phone call from someone claiming to be a lawyer. The caller stated that the resident’s grandson was in an auto accident, hit a pregnant woman, and was arrested for distracted driving. The caller then requested money for the grandson’s bail. The resident called his grandson and recognized it as a scam before any money was lost.

Upon contact with the operator, the officer detected the odor of alcohol. The operator was unable to perform field sobriety tests satisfactorily and was placed under arrest for suspicion of driving under the influence. Charges are pending blood evidence results.

As a result of the investigation, one male subject was arrested and charged with Simple Assault, Terroristic Threats with Intent to Terrorize Another, Reckless Endangerment, Disorderly Conduct, and Harassment.

A Newtown Township resident contacted police shortly after 1:30 p.m. to report wire fraud. The total value of loss was $3,200. The incident was documented, and the resident was advised to contact his banks, credit card companies, and credit bureaus to monitor his accounts.

Stolen Vehicle
Police were dispatched to a Newtown Township residence around 5 a.m. for the report of a stolen vehicle. The investigation is ongoing at this time.
Fraud
At approximately 4:30 p.m., police were dispatched to a grocery store for the report of a gift card fraud. The total value of loss was $40.
December 25
Drug Arrest
At approximately 5 a.m. police conducted a traffic stop on a Chevy Trailblazer operator for committing a vehicle code violation in the area of the Newtown Bypass and Lower Silver Lake Road. As a result of the investigation, suspected narcotics and drug equipment were discovered and seized as evidence and a female passenger was arrested in connection.
December 26
DUI
At approximately 2:15 a.m., police conducted a traffic stop on an Acura TL operator for committing a vehicle code violation in the area of the Newtown Bypass and Sycamore Street. Upon contact with the operator, the officer detected the odor of alcohol. The operator was unable to perform field sobriety tests satisfactorily and was placed under arrest for suspicion of driving under the influence. The operator refused to submit blood for chemical testing, and charges are pending.

Fraud
A Wrightstown Township resident contacted police at 2:30 p.m. to report fraud. Someone hacked her friend’s Facebook and was selling tickets, and the resident unknowingly tried to purchase them. The total value of loss was $500.
December 29
Drug Arrest
At approximately 4:30 a.m., police conducted a traffic stop on a Saturn sedan operator for committing a vehicle code violation in the area of Durham Road and Township Line Road. As a result of the investigation, suspected narcotics and drug equipment were discovered and seized as evidence, and the male operator was arrested in connection.
Theft From Vehicle
A Wrightstown Township resident responded to headquarters around 9:30 a.m. to report the theft of parts from her vehicle. The investigation is ongoing at this time.
December 30
Assault
Shortly after midnight, police were dispatched to a restaurant in Newtown Township for the report of a disturbance. As a result of the investigation, one male subject was arrested and charged with Simple Assault, Resisting Arrest, Disorderly Conduct, and Harassment.

At approximately 1 a.m., police conducted a traffic stop on an Aston Martin sedan operator for committing a vehicle code violation in the area of the Newtown Bypass and Campus Drive. Upon contact with the operator, the officer detected the odor of alcohol. At approximately 9:15 p.m., police conducted a traffic stop on a Chevy sedan operator for committing a vehicle code violation in the area of Diamond Drive and Buck Road. As a result of the investigation, suspected narcotics and drug equipment were discovered and seized as evidence, and charges are pending.

At approximately 11 p.m., police conducted a traffic stop on a Nissan sedan operator for committing a vehicle code violation in the area of Durham Road and South Drive. Upon contact with the operator, the officer detected the odor of alcohol. The operator was unable to perform field sobriety tests satisfactorily and was placed under arrest for suspicion of driving under the influence. The operator refused to submit blood for chemical testing, and charges are pending.
January 2
Attempted Fraud
A Newtown Township resident contacted police around noon to report fraud. The resident explained that an AT&T account was fraudulently opened in his name. AT&T is investigating the matter, and there was no monetary loss.
Stolen Vehicle
At approximately 3:15 p.m., police were dispatched to a Newtown Township residence for the report of a stolen vehicle. The investigation is ongoing at this time.
January 4
Arrest
At approximately 3:15 am police conducted a traffic stop on a BMW X5 operator for committing a vehicle code violation in the area of Durham Road and Township Line Road. As a result of the investigation, the operator was taken into custody on an active arrest warrant from the Scranton Police Department and transferred without incident.
