The Bucks County Tourism Grant Program has announced the distribution of $574,650 in grants to 56 organizations, including some in the Newtown area.
Established in 2008, the collaborative program between Visit Bucks County and Bucks County government plays a key role in the development and growth of the county’s tourism sector, officials said.
Funded by a portion of the lodging tax collected from visitors staying in hotels, bed and breakfasts, and home-shares in Bucks County, the program has provided more $6.7 million to more than 130 organizations since its inception.
The grants can be used for various undertakings, including marketing initiatives, special events and exhibitions, product development, and capital improvements that bolster tourism.
The Charles H. Martin Grant, named in honor of former Bucks County Commissioner Martin’s dedication to the program. The 2023 recipient of the special award is the Friends of Washington Crossing Park in Upper Makefield and Solebury townships.
The 2023 grant recipients encompass a wide range of cultural, historical, and community organizations.
