Pedestrian Hit By SUV, Police Look For Striking Vehicle

police-lights-11A pedestrian was sent to the hospital after being struck by a vehicle in the heart of Newtown Borough Friday afternoon.

Police said a female pedestrian was struck by an SUV while inside the crosswalk at the intersection of Washington Avenue and State Street around 12:10 p.m.

The striking vehicle, possibly a Lexus, stopped and the female driver of the SUV asked the victim if they were harmed. The driver told the victim she never saw her crossing the street, according to police.

The striking vehicle drove around the block and stopped to check on the victim again before leaving, police said.

The driver of the SUV, a woman with light brown hair, allegedly did not report the crash to police.

An officer said the victim was hospitalized with injuries. The victim’s condition was not released

Anyone with information on the crash and/or striking vehicle is asked to call borough police Officer Colleen Rosenfeld at 215-860-7835.
