Driver In Crash That Went Viral On Social Media Expected To Be Charged

A 58-year-old Flourtown man is expected to be charged with allegedly fleeing the scene of a crash.

Neftali Ortiz will be charged for a Wednesday, February 3 crash that happened on the off-ramp of I-95 near the Newtown Bypass in nearby Lower Makefield, according to Pennsylvania State Police.

The crash happened while Holly Madden, 23, of Philadelphia, was traveling northbound in the left lane on the off ramp and attempting to turn onto the bypass. Ortiz initially struck Madden’s car and then again while attempting to flee the scene. Madden, who is pregnant, did get a picture of Ortiz driving as he fled in addition to his license plate number, state police said.

Troopers arrived and used the information Madden gave to them to locate Ortiz and identify the car in a business parking lot. The vehicle had damage consistent of being in a crash.

Ortiz told troopers had lost recollection of the accident due to a medical incident, state police said.

Madden posted a photo of a man she identified as Ortiz on Facebook. The photos and a description of the alleged events that transpired that afternoon were shared by more than 11,800 people.

Troopers said Ortiz would be facing charges and summary tickets in connection with the crash.
