February 3
Fraud
At approximately 2:30 p.m., an officer spoke with a resident of Newtown Township who reported that she was a victim of debit card fraud. The victim explained that she attempted to use her debit card and it was declined. When she called her bank to check on the status, she learned that even though she was in possession of her card, she was advised by the bank that unknown person(s) used her debit card at numerous location for a total amount of approximately $1,200. The card was cancelled and the bank was going to issue a new one.
February 5
Fraud
At approximately 11:15 a.m., a resident of Wrightstown Township came to police headquarters to report fraudulent activity fraud involving his credit information. The victim told police that he received mail from two separate venders reporting that accounts had been opened or attempted to be opened in his name. One company advised the victim that a credit card had been established and a $5,000 limit had been authorized. The bank involved told the victim that in order to fix the fraudulent purchases he needed obtain and provide a police report number.
Fraud
A resident of Newtown Township called police around 11:30 a.m. to report that unknown persons had used her identity to purchase two cell phones against her phone account. No dollar amount for the phones was available at the time the victim reported the crime. The reporting officer advised the victim that if she found out any more information to forward it to him and suggested she contact the credit bureaus.
February 7
DUI
Shortly before 2:00 a.m., an officer stopped a motorist on the Newtown Bypass due to a vehicle code violation. The driver was identified as 37-year-old April Sosa of Morrisville. After an investigation, the officer formed the opinion that Sosa was operating the vehicle while under the influence of alcohol and incapable of safe driving. She was taken into custody and transported to St. Mary Medical Center in Middletown, where she submitted to a blood draw. The blood sample will be submitted to NMS labs for analysis and charges of DUI are pending the results of the lab work.
