Intoxicated Driver Caused Nasty Wreck On Taylorsville Road, Police Say

The driver of a white Dodge Durango drove recklessly before crashing into a utility pole and tree in Upper Makefield earlier this month was intoxicated at the time, according to police.

The crash happened around 5 p.m. on February 12 in the 1200 block of Taylorsville Road.

The driver of the Durango, whose name was not released, was reportedly speeding and weaving in and out of traffic. Before the crash, the Durango sideswiped a vehicle on River Road and then continued onto southbound Taylorsville Road. The driver ended up losing control and striking a utility and a tree, police said.

When being tended to by the medics from St. Mary’s EMS, the driver became very combative and had to be restrained by the medics, police, and a bystander,” a post from police said.

The driver will be charged for driving intoxicated and causing the wreck.

Police, St. Mary Medical Center EMS and the Upper Makefield Fire Company all responded to the crash.

Taylorsville Road was closed for several hours while PECO replaced the damaged utility pole.
