The municipal parking lot in Newtown Borough will be redone this spring.

The borough has contracted Bray Brothers to overhaul the parking lot. The work will cost $200,000.

The contracted work will include sidewalk repairs, upgrades to the curb, inlet construction and a repaving of the parking lot that is between Washington and Centre avenues. Small portions of the parking lot will be closed during the work.

Borough engineer Mario Canales said at a council meeting earlier this month some work could begin as soon as the end of February. The majority of paving is expected to take place in the spring.

Borough officials said they hope to work with merchants to lessen the work’s disruption on businesses.
