Newtown Township police are looking for the public’s help to identify a man who used a local resident’s credit card number to make unauthorized purchases.
The man, who appeared in surveillance video disguised in heavy clothing during the transactions, used the credit card number of a Stockton Court resident earlier this month. The card was used February 1 at the Wawa at the corner of Philmont Avenue and Bustleton Avenue in the Somerton section of Philadelphia and again the next day at the Wawa at Philmont Avenue and Red Loin Road in Lower Moreland, police said.
The man seen is survalliance video using the stolen card alleged charged $1,200 in purchases, police said.
In both cases, the man came to the Wawa’s from out of the cameras’ range and walked right to the ATMs to withdraw money, police said.
The woman said she still has possession of the card and had not given the number to anyone else, police reported.
