The Newtown Borough Municipal Parking Lot will likely be closing for milling and paving later this month.
“The closure could last up to two weeks,” borough engineer Mario Canales said. He also stated nice weather could even speed up the project’s completition date.
“They’re moving right along,” Canales said, adding pipe work is almost compete and then curb, sidewalk and guide rail work will begin next week.
The $200,000 borough project to redo the parking lot that sits between Washington and Centre avenues began last month. Crews from contractor Bray Brothers have already worked on some portions of the lot.
Canales said local business owners have met with the contractors about the project. The goal is to complete the work without causing a negative impact for State Street business owners.
