Portion Of Centre Avenue To Be Repaved

Newtown Borough is looking to redo a portion of Centre Avenue.

The project to mill and repave the 100 block of Centre Avenue, which is between Court and Congress streets, is expected to move forward.. The project will also include replacement of four ramps for people with disabilities and a new concrete pad in front of the Newtown Library Company property.

Town engineer Mario Canales told borough council recently that four bids were received after being advertised last month. The project was estimated to cost $42,000 and the lowest bid came in at $31,600. The council will vote to award Haines Paving in the near future.

Newtown plans to pay for the work with PennDOT liquid fuels funds.
