The first day of spring could bring the last snow of the season.

According to forecasters at the National Weather Service, the storm system could bring the potential for accumulating snow on the first day of spring, which is Sunday.

“There is still considerable uncertainty regarding the storm,” forecasters stressed in a briefing package.

Precipitation attached to the storm could begin as early as Saturday night. With cold temperatures expected, the “precipitation may fall as snow or as a cold rain. If we do have snow, it will likely be a heavy wet snow, sticking to trees and power lines. It is still too soon for specific snowfall amounts for this event.”

The National Weather Service said they would release more information, including snow forecast maps, Friday afternoon.
