Snow Forecast Scaled Back

The first day of spring is expected to be welcomed by rain and possibly light snow.

According to the National Weather service, precipitation that is part of a coastal system will move into the area late Saturday and stick around through the rest of the weekend. The system could mark the second time in two years that snow has fallen on the first day of spring, which is Sunday.

If the precipitation comes down hard enough, rain will quickly change to snow and may accumulate some through this evening on non-paved surfaces,” forecasters said.

A precipitation map calls for up to 1 inch of snow, with up to two inches the closer you get to Doylestown.

Any snow that falls is expected to be heavy and wet, sticking to trees and utility lines, forecasters said.

On Friday, forecasters said the area could see 2 to 4 inches of snow, but that prediction was scaled back by Saturday morning.

The upcoming forecast:

Saturday Night: A chance of rain and snow before 1am, then a slight chance of snow after 5am. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 30. Northeast wind 5 to 10 mph. Chance of precipitation is 30%. New snow accumulation of less than a half inch possible.
