Area Police To Crack Down On Aggressive Driving


IMG_2825 police lightsBucks County police departments will be cracking down on aggressive driving.

The stepped up enforcement by Newtown Township police is part of a coordinated effort across southeast Pennsylvania, according to PennDOT.

The Pennsylvania Aggressive Driving Enforcement and Education Project is funded by PennDOT and the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. The program will run through March 23 until May 3.

PennDOT offers the following tips if you encounter an aggressive driver:

• Get out of their way and don’t challenge them;
• Stay relaxed, avoid eye contact and ignore rude gestures; and
• Don’t block the passing lane if you are driving slower than most of the traffic.

Police in Bensalem, Bristol Township, Buckingham, Doylestown Township, Falls Township, Hilltown, Lower Southampton, Middletown New Britain Township, Newtown Township, Northampton, Penndel, Richland, Upper Southampton, Warminster, Warrington and Warwick are also taking part in the program.
