Police Log: Residents Have Identity Stolen, Car Window Busted Out During Theft & More

March 21

Fraud

A Wrightstown Township resident came to police headquarters around 11:45 a.m. to report his identity was stolen and several credit cards were opened and purchases were made.  He stated the purchases exceeding $10,500 were made in the Maryland and Washington D.C. area.  The cards and accounts have been cancelled.

March 22

Theft From Vehicle

Police were dispatched to a home on Clearview Drive at approximately 7:30 a.m. for a report of theft from a vehicle.  The victim told the officer that she parked her car in her driveway around 4:00 p.m. on March 21 and discovered a window in the vehicle had been broken overnight.  The victim also reported that three Dooney and Burke purses valued at $800 were stolen from the car.  The bags were all empty.

Fraud

At approximately 9:30 a.m., a resident of Newtown Township came to police headquarters to report that he was the victim of tax fraud.  He explained that his accountant had recently filed his tax return electronically.  The victim received a letter from the IRS stating that his taxes were being declined because his social security number was already in their system as having been attached to a different return.  The victim had filled out the Federal Identity Theft Affidavit report.

Theft

Around 10:35 a.m., police were dispatched to a property on Richboro Road near Shir Ami Synagogue for a report of a theft.  The responding officer met with the property owner who told him that a large extension ladder valued at $3,000 had been stolen from the rear of the property.  The victim said that the ladder was last seen about two weeks ago.

Fraud

A resident of Newtown Township came to police headquarters shortly after noon to report that he received notification from Chrysler Corporation that an unknown woman in Tennessee or Texas was attempting to purchase a vehicle using his personal information including his social number.

Fraud

Around 2:10 p.m., a Newtown Township resident reported that her credit card number was used at various stores in Texas to make unauthorized purchases.  The fraudulent purchases exceeded $2,700.  The victim was gathering needed documentation to provide to her bank in hopes she will be reimbursed for her loss.
