MBIT Inducts 23 Students Into National Technical Honor Society

On Thursday, March 3, 2016, the Middle Bucks Institute of Technology (MBIT) Chapter of the National Technical Honor Society (NTHS) inducted twenty-three new student members and one honorary member.  The mission of the NTHS is to honor student achievement and leadership in career and technical education, promote educational excellence, award scholarships, and enhance career opportunities for the NTHS membership.

Nomination into the National Technical Honor Society is an important achievement for select students.  Society membership is a valuable investment, the highest award of excellence in workforce education in America. To qualify for nomination at MBIT, students must be nominated by a professional staff member, maintain an “A” average in his/her technical area, maintain a 3.4 average or better in all academic areas, be a 200 level student or higher, exhibit good character and leadership, have a discipline record with no detentions or suspensions throughout previous and current school years, plan to pursue a career or college major in their technical field of study, and have demonstrated community service experiences.

This year’s student inductees included: Johey Augustine (Central Bucks HS West/Culinary Arts), Matthew Backert (William Tennent HS/Engineering Related Technology), Kevin Britton (Central Bucks HS South/Web Design & Interactive Media), David Churchill (New Hope-Solebury HS/Practical Environmental Landscaping), Christopher Costello (Central Bucks HS South/Engineering Related Technology), John Eisele (Central Bucks HS East/Administrative Sciences & Business Technology), Christina Franks (Council Rock HS South/Cosmetology), Tammy Lee Hamilton (Council Rock HS South/Cosmetology), Rachael Hueber (William Tennent HS/Multimedia Technology), Katie Hulton (Central Bucks HS South/Cosmetology), Andrew Krysztofiak (William Tennent HS/Computerized Drafting & Engineering Graphics), Samantha Kuhns (Central Bucks HS East/Public Safety), Ashley Lafferty (Central Bucks HS West/Early Childhood Care & Education), Matthew McGowan (William Tennent HS/Public Safety), Mark Pantalone (William Tennent HS/Computerized Drafting & Engineering Graphics), Daniel Pfeiffer (Central Bucks HS East/Public Safety), Brooke Rees (Council Rock HS South/Early Childhood Care & Education), Sebastian Richards (New Hope-Solebury HS/Computerized Drafting & Engineering Graphics), Taylor Risich (Central Bucks HS South/Multimedia Technology), Duncan Walk (William Tennent HS/Networking & Operating Systems Security), Ashley Woltkamp (William Tennent HS/Cosmetology), Anna Yushkevich (William Tennent HS/Dental Occupations), and Anthony Zimba (Central Bucks HS South/Engineering Related Technology).

This year’s MBIT Honorary Inductee was Mr. Robert Long.  Mr. Long has served as the New Hope-Solebury School District Representative for the Middle Bucks AVTS Authority for 35 years.
