UPDATED: 10:16 a.m., Monday:

Police Lt. Terry Hughes said the suspect that remains on the run is a black male, about 5-foot-5, medium build, orange hair & red sneakers.

The lockdown of the schools is expected to be lifted but police will remain at the buildings.

Police were spotted escorting a school bus through the Goldenridge neighborhood Monday morning.

Original Story:

Schools were locked down and police searched Bristol Township Monday morning after a robbery-gone-wrong led to a shooting in Levittown.

Police said at 7:35 a.m. that they were still searching for one suspect involved in an early-morning failed robbery attempt at a home in the 20 block of Goldengate Road. At least two other suspects were already in police custody.

Authorities confirmed Harry S. Truman High School and Clara Barton Elementary School were locked down as of 8 a.m.

Bucks County Sheriff’s Department deputies and Middletown police were seen assisting Bristol Township authorities. Patrol cars slowly drove up and down the streets of the Goldenridge neighborhood and a K-9 unit searched on foot.

The residents of the home where the shooting happened said they awoke early in the morning and saw their dog, a Cane Corso breed, alerting them that someone was in the house. The male homeowner went downstairs to find a woman his family knew looking into the residence.

The male homeowner went outside after noticing his white motorcycle was missing from it’s usual spot. He stepped outside and was greeted by a man who held a gun to him.

“He told me, ‘I’m in a bad way, do you have money?,’” the resident said. He told the gunman his kids were upstairs and tried to block his dog from coming out.

At some point, the dog escaped and the suspect with the gun shot the dog multiple times, the homeowner told LevittownNow.com.

Police said no one was injured in the incident but confirmed the dog was shot dead. The homeowners appeared shaken up and the man had dried blood around his left ear.

Neighbors told reporters they heard several gunshots around 5 a.m, and noticed the police presence a short time later.

More information is expected to be released later Monday.
