Delicious barbecue, indoor miniature golf and rides in a hot air balloon could all be seen and experienced Tuesday at the Washington Crossing Historic Park courtesy of Visit Bucks County.

The event, which was held in recognition of National Travel and Tourism Week, helped to spotlight local tourism and hospitality professionals for their continued commitment to visitors and residents throughout the county.

The tourism agency took the time prior to the festivities to honor five individuals from various organizations for their work, and presented more than $200,000 in checks to a cluster of organizations through grants.

“These annual awards and this celebration are about the people who truly represent Bucks County – those that interact with visitors everyday and toll out the red carpet to our guests,” said Visit Bucks County President and COO Jerry Lepping. “Today is also about showing our gratitude to our local community, who consistently supports the hospitality industry and all the great things there are to see and do in this county.”

According to Lepping, tourism in Bucks County has been the best it has been in five years, with upward trends expected to continue. Updated numbers reflect that visitor spending in Bucks County means $1 billion in local economic impact while supporting over 12,000 local jobs.
