Bear Struck, Killed By Car

A bear was struck and killed by a car in Wrightstown Township early Sunday.

Newtown Township police, who patrol Wrightstown, were dispatched to the area of Park Avenue near Cherry Lane around 7 a.m. on Sunday for reports of a struck bear in the middle of the roadway.

Responding officers located the deceased animal and quickly notified the Pennsylvania Game Commission.

The black bear that was struck along the roadway is estimated to have weighed 150 pounds, according to officials.
