The public is invited to celebrate a whole host of events for the Independence Day holiday at Washington Crossing Park in Upper Makefield.

While the public is invited to begin the July 4 celebrations at noon, running enthusiasts are invited to a fun run, 5k, and 10k run beginning at the park at 8 a.m. Registration for the event will begin at 6 a.m. at the park. From 12 p.m. to 4 p.m., attendees can watch living historians demonstrate crafts, tour historic buildings and even see a military encampment. The Declaration of Independence will also be read at 12:30, 1:30, 2:30 and 3:30 p.m.

The daytime celebration will even be completed with fireworks – the first pyrotechnic display in the park in more than 20 years.

Admission for the rain or shine event is $8 for adults and $4 for children aged 5-11. Children under 5 are free. All proceeds support educational and historical programming in the park. The firework display is free.
