July 1
DUI Accident
At approximately 5:30 p.m., police responded to the area of Park Avenue and Penns Park Road for a report of a three-vehicle traffic accident. Officers speaking with one of the drivers; identified as, 32 year-old Anna Limbo of Mechanics Street in Doylestown, detected a strong odor of alcohol. Due to her injuries Limbo was transported to St. Mary Medical in Middletown and one of the officers responded to continue the investigation. Limbo agreed to provide a blood draw that will be sent to the crime lab for analysis. Charges of DUI are pending the lab results.
July 6
Fraud
At approximately 2:30 p.m., a resident of Newtown Township called police to report that she had received a phone call from an unknown female who stated that she was an attorney representing the resident’s niece. The caller said that the niece had been involved in a traffic accident resulting in her arrest and needed money to avoid going to jail. The resident followed the directions of the caller and purchased gift cards for a total value of $2,000 and transferred the cards to the caller. Once the money was received, the victim received another call asking her to send an additional $4,000 for damages to the other vehicle, by this time the victim realized she had been swindled.
July 10
Theft
At approximately noon, police responded to the Chandler Ball Fields for a report that the snack shack had been damaged and cash was removed from the cash box. The responding officer met with the caller who stated that it is estimated that $70 in cash was the only thing taken. The reporting party told the officer that items in the shack had already touched or handled by them prior to calling 911.
July 12
Theft
At approximately 5:10 p.m., police were dispatched to the Newtown Shopping Center for a report of a theft from a vehicle. The responding officer met with the vehicle owner who explained that she parked her car around 3:45 pm when she arrived for work. A customer came into the store at 5 p.m. and told employees that there was a vehicle with a smashed window in the parking lot. The customer described the vehicle and the owner went and confirmed that it was her car. She also told the officer that her wallet had been on the front passenger seat under a bag, but had been taken. The vehicle locked by the owner before she left it.
Theft
Shortly after 9 p.m., police responded to the Newtown Athletic Club when for a report of theft from a vehicle. The victim told police that he believed he locked his vehicle before he went into the facility around 5 p.m. and when he returned to it around 8:45 pm he used his key to enter his vehicle and discovered that he brief case was missing.
There was no sign of forced entry this evening when he checked.
