Newtown Township police dealt with an incident Wednesday evening that left an officer injured.
On Wednesday shortly before 9 p.m., a corporal with the Newtown Township Police Department remarked he was driving a marked patrol car when he was advised of a reckless, speeding motorcycle. According to a police affidavit, the officer observed the motorcyclist ride by him with no taillights and his helmet half on and half off; it was then that the officer initiated a traffic stop at the corner of Lower Dolington Road and Stanford Place.
Court documents note that when the officer made contact with the motorcyclist, he was informed that the rider’s name was Gordon Kindlon. Through a search, he discovered the actual name of the accused was Terence Kindlon, 46, of Columbia County, New York. He observed that Kindlon had an active warrant out of New York and that the motorcycle he was riding was confirmed stolen out of the state as well.
Another officer joined the corporal in attempting to take Kindlon into custody, but a struggle reportedly ensued, causing the motorcycle to fall onto the officer’s leg, injuring her. Police affidavit noted that Kindlon continue to resist arrest and it was then that the corporal deployed his taser, striking him on the left side of his lower back. Kindlon then stopped resisting and complied with officers as he was placed in handcuffs. Court documents show that Kindlon was found to be in possession of a capped needle as well as several stolen tags and motorcycle parts.
Kindlon, who police say knew of his existing warrant out of New York, is being held on 10 percent of $100,000 bail. More charges for his case in Bucks County are currently pending, according to court documents.
