Police Log: Man Walks Out With $283 Of Food, Attempted Fraud & More

August 16

Theft From Vehicle

At approximately 3:20 p.m., a resident of Newtown Township came into Police Headquarters to report that an iPad was stolen from her vehicle while she was in McCaffrey’s Market.  The iPad had been on the front passenger seat and victim told police that she was in the store about 30 minutes and believed that the car doors may have been unlocked.

Theft

A resident of Newtown Township called police shortly before 2 p.m. to report an attempted fraud.  The woman continued that she had received a phone call from a male subject who identified himself as an officer from Trenton Police Department and that her grandson had been arrested by them.  The woman was told to go to purchase four iTunes cards for a total value of $500 to bail her grandson out of jail.  The woman questioned the subjects who then terminated the call.

August 18

Theft

Shortly before 3 p.m., police were dispatched to the Acme Market on West Road for a report of a retail theft.  Upon arrival the officer was met by an employee of the market and the subject who had attempted to take merchandise.  The subject was a 49-year-old Northampton Township resident who placed merchandise valued at $283.93 in a shopping cart and left the store without paying for it.  Charges are pending.
