Bucks County is purchasing an Upper Makefield farm for preservation.

At last week’s Bucks County Commissioners meeting at the Middletown Grange Fair, the county agreed to pay $335,880 to buy the 27.99-acre Ely Farm on Woodhill Road, County Director of Agricultural Land Preservation Rich Harvey said.

The Ely Farm sells award-winning pork, beef, chicken and cheese products from the Woodhill Road farm property.

The county last week also purchased the 38.82-acre Michini Farm in Bedminster and the 53.52-acre Ballek Farm in Springfield.

Since 1989, the Bucks County Agricultural Land Preservation program has preserved 193 farms totaling 15,724 acres.
