After months of talks and some back-and-forth, the first of at least two debates between the two Eighth District Congressional candidates will happen Tuesday.

Democratic State Rep. Steve Santarsiero of Lower Makefield and Republican Brian Fitzpatrick of Middletown will meet for the face-to-face debate Tuesday at noon in the Levittown studios of 1490 WBCB-AM. The debate is being put on by the radio station and the Lower Bucks County Chamber of Commerce and will be moderated by Bristol Borough resident and community college professor Bill Pezza, who has hosted debates over the years.

The debates will last an hour and will tackle a number of topics important to voters in Bucks and Montgomery counties.

While the candidates will likely attended several additional events between now and election day on November 8, the WBCB and a debate on October 13 at Bucks County Community College’s campus in Bristol Township are the only face-to-face debates scheduled.

Eric Goldman, Santarsiero’s campaign manager, said there is a possibility of more debates.

The two campaigns proposed a series of debates that never happened following the primary election but both sides never agreed on times and locations. In the end, Fitzpatrick and Santarsiero’s campaigns both claimed their opponent was playing “political games.”
