Searchers continued to comb Tyler State Park in Newtown, Northampton and Wrightstown to search for a missing Bensalem woman Wednesday.
Lindsey Piccone, whose age wasn’t being released by her family or law enforcement, was last seen Tuesday evening and her unattended car was found at the park around 8 p.m. Searchers from various agencies on Tuesday night took to the park by land and air and searched for the young woman until 2 a.m.
The search that closed the park resumed Wednesday at 6:30 a.m. and was expected to continue into the evening, according to Pennsylvania Department of Conservation and Natural Resources (DCNR) Ranger Eric Ihlein, the manager of Valley Forge Park who was called to assist in the search.
“The family is asking for your help to locate her,” Ihlein said during an appeal to the public.
“Lindsay, if you are listening, you are so loved. Your parents love you so much more than I could ever express,” pleaded Heather Andrews, a member of Piccone’s family. “All your family and friends are here … we aren’t giving up until we find you.”
The circumstances surrounding her disappearance were not released by law enforcement or family.
Authorities said police also are searching the area surrounding the park.
Ihlein said three K-9 units in addition DCNR personnel from around the region, local police, state police and local fire companies are aiding in searching the 1,700-acre park. On Tuesday night, Philadelphia police brought in their helicopter and used night vision equipment to search for the missing woman.
If Piccone is not located by Wednesday night, officials will make a decision tomorrow on whether to close the park Thursday, Ihlein said, adding that closing the park helps searchers focus their efforts without distractions.
A DCNR ranger told the media that they appreciated the public’s offers of assistance but they did not need volunteer searchers at the park.
Anyone with information on Piccone’s whereabouts is asked to call authorities at 610-982-5411.
