Original Story:

Tyler State Park in Newtown, Northampton and Wrightstown was closed to vehicular traffic and pedestrians Wednesday due to a search for a missing person.

The search for the missing person began around 8 p.m. Tuesday after a call from their concerned family. Pennsylvania Department of Conservation and Natural Resources Rangers, local police, a Philadelphia police helicopter and firefighters searched the park overnight and were not able to find the missing person, according to parks spokesman Eric Ihlein, who is assisting staff at Tyler State Park and is manager at Valley Forge State Park.

As the sun came up Wednesday morning, the search for the person resumed and park and its trails were closed, Ihlein said. Bensalem, Newtown Township and state police were assisting park rangers in the search Wednesday. In addition, firefighters and two trained K-9 search dogs were at the park. Ihlein said state parks officials from around the region were called in to aid in the search effort.

A police source told NewtownPANow.com that the missing person was reported to be “endangered.”

A four-wheeler was seen being transported into the park for the search.

An update is expected Wednesday afternoon.
