Shortly after 1 p.m., police responded to a home in Wrightstown Township to take a report of a credit card fraud. The officer met with the resident/victim who explained that she was in the process of consolidating her credit card debt and learned of purchases in the amount of $600 had been made on her account by an unknown person.
Attempted Fraud
A resident of Newtown Township called police around 1:45 p.m. to report a phone call from someone who identified themselves as a representative of the IRS. The caller told the resident that if she didn’t send $2,500 to them a warrant for her arrest will be filed. The resident realized that the call was not legitimate and terminated the conversation.
Fraud
At approximately 3 p.m., a Newtown Township resident came to police headquarters to report that she was the victim of credit card fraud. The victim received an email from Macy’s advising her that an order for a blender valued at $450 had been cancelled. She then received notification from a different credit card company, of another cancelled purchase. The victim had not placed either of the orders, but since she suffered no financial loss, she didn’t want any further police action or investigation.
