You Can Register To Vote In Person, Online & Via Text Message

EL21897166 electionTuesday, October 11 is the last day to register to vote before the November 8 general election.

This year, Pennsylvanians are able to register to cast the ballot either online, in-person or via text message this year.

Bucks County officials said residents looking to register can visit the Bucks County Administration Building at 55 East Court Street in Doylestown, the Lower Bucks Government Services at 7321 New Falls Road in Levittown or the Upper Bucks Government Services Center at 261 California Road in Quakertown. The Doylestown office will be open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. and the lower and upper county offices will accept voter registration from 8:30 a.m. until 4:30 p.m.

Pennsylvania Secretary of State Pedro Cortés reminded residents in a statement that citizens can register to vote or update their voter file by heading to register.votesPA.com.

The state this year has added a voter registration text messaging service. To sign up, simply text “PA” to “2Vote” (28683) on a smartphone. The new voter will soon receive a test with a link that provides direct access to the online voter registration application.

Things you need to know to register to vote:

  • A citizen of the United States for at least one month before the election.
  • A resident of Pennsylvania and the election district in which the individual desires to register and vote for at least 30 days before the election.
  • At least 18 years of age on or before the date of the election.

“Voting is one of our most fundamental rights,” Cortés said. “That’s why Governor Wolf and the Department of State have made it a priority to implement innovations that make registration more convenient, secure and accessible.”

In addition, state election officials want to remind those casting their ballot via absentee ballot to pay close attention to deadlines. The last day to request an absentee ballot is Tuesday, November 1 and all ballots must be received in the county election office by 5 p.m. on Friday, November 4.

In the Newtown-area, voters will elect President and Vice President, one U.S. Senator and congressman, as well as the statewide offices of attorney general, auditor general, treasurer and a state representative.
