Federal Election Commission records show Republican congressional candidate Brian Fitzpatrick raised more cash than his Democratic opponent in the most recent quarter.

Fitzpatrick’s campaign raised $746,658 in donations between July 1 and September 30 while Democratic State Rep. Steve Santarsiero pulled in $649,814 during the same period. Fitzpatrick ended the quarter with $533,000 cash on hand and Santarsiero had $227,728 remaining in his war chest, according to reports from both campaigns.

The joint fundraising committee Santarsiero Victory Fund also pulled in about $27,250 in its roughly one-and-a-half-months in operation and had $12,108 left in it’s coffers at the end of September.

“I am grateful for the continued support and encouragement of friends and neighbors who are powering this grassroots campaign to bring experienced, independent leadership to Washington,” said Fitzpatrick. “These fundraising numbers show that Bucks and Montgomery counties are connecting to our campaign’s positive message focused on keeping our communities safe and increasing opportunity for all.”

The Fitzpatrick campaign claims the most recent haul is the highest total fundraising amount of any non-incumbent candidate who has previously run in the Eighth Congressional District.

“While Brian Fitzpatrick is being bankrolled by special interests like the Koch Brothers, Steve Santarsiero is running a campaign fueled by residents from inside Bucks and Montgomery Counties. Thanks to tremendous local support we will have the resources to continuing getting Steve Santarsiero’s message out about reforming Washington, keeping our communities safe with sensible gun safety laws and the steps we need to take to continue to protect women’s health,” said Eric Goldman, Santarsiero’s campaign manager.

During the most recent quarter, the Fitzpatrick campaign paid out $903,704 and Santarsiero’s campaign shelled out $813,518. A preliminary review of the spending reports for both candidates shows most money went to office costs, printing, payroll and event fees.

The one notable expenditure from Santarsiero’s campaign was a $40,000 loan repayment last month to the candidate himself.

The quarterly reports were handed over to the Federal Election Commission last week.
