Newtown Township emergency management officials have a plan in place for Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump’s visit.
Before Trump visits the Newtown Athletic Club Friday evening, authorities will close Pheasant Run from the entrance to the athletic club to Penns Trail starting at 3 p.m. 4:30 p.m. The road will be closed to all traffic until about 9:30 p.m.
All of Pheasant Run between Penns Trail and Terry Drive will be closed to traffic from 6:45 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. The road will also close again from 8:45 p.m. to 9:30 p.m., authorities said. The timing of the closure matches the timing for when Trump’s motorcade will be arriving and leaving the campaign rally.
Security preparations were underway Thursday at the Newtown Athletic Club in advance of Trump’s rally, which is set to begin at 7:30 p.m.
