“Brian Fitzpatrick is not Congressman Mike Fitzpatrick.”

That’s the message a TV and online ad purchased by the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee has worked to instill in Eighth Congressional District voters this season.

The ad was one in a series by the national Democrats to hit Brian Fitzpatrick and also link him to presidential candidate Donald Trump.

The Republican’s campaign on Tuesday flipped the script and appeared to take advantage of the Democrats’ ad intended to hurt Brian Fitzpatrick’s chances to win the seat.

Brian Fitzpatrick’s congressman brother, who has stayed pretty silent of the election all year, is featured in the campaign’s latest six-figure ad purchase.

“Brian Fitzpatrick grew up in this home in Bucks County, Pennsylvania. How do I know? He’s my brother,” the congressman says in the 30-second ad.

Congressman Fitzpatrick, whose voice sounds noticeably weathered, paints his brother as a moderate who is focused on solving America’s problems.

In a statement released Tuesday, Congressman Fitzpatrick, who just recently underwent surgery for an unreleased medical condition, said: “The fact is, as an FBI Special Agent, federal prosecutor and CPA, my brother Brian is one of the most qualified people we can ask for to represent us in Washington.”

Brian Fitzpatrick’s campaign has worked to show to voters the retired FBI special agent’s roots are in Levittown and he grew up in the area. One series of online videos that was posted before the primary election shows Brian Fitzpatrick driving around Lower Bucks County and recalling old stories while laying out his reason for running for congress.

“We are brothers so I’d say we’re more alike than not alike,” Brian Fitzpatrick told Republican voters in Central Bucks County earlier this year.

Aaron Clark, Brian Fitzpatrick’s campaign spokesperson, would not comment on whether the latest ad is in response to the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee’s previous ad.

“I’ll let you decide,” he said.
