The dozens of Steve Santarsiero supporters that came to his election watch party on Tuesday evening at the Sheraton Hotel in Falls Township left disappointed and defeated.

As of 11:50 p.m. Santarsiero had not officially conceded the race, simply stating in his few minute address to supporters that if current trends continued, final election results were not “looking good for him and his campaign.”

Regardless of the race results, Santarsiero stated it was incumbent upon all of his supporters to come together and try and unite what has become “a very divided nation” – a nation with many challenges ahead, “challenges that exist regardless of the outcome of a race.”

Santarsiero remained hopeful in his campaign’s progress though, instilling in the hearts and minds of his supporters that the goal of his campaign has been to “make a brighter future for our kids and their kids and many generations to come,” he said. “This race is not about me or Secretary Clinton, or my opponent or Donald Trump.”

The Democratic candidate for congress encouraged fellow party members to put the same energy they had supporting his campaign into “being citizens and trying to make a better future.”

In a conversation with NewtownPANow.com, Santarsiero chose not to focus on his opponent, Brian Fitzpatrick, and rather on thanking his supporters and his family for running a hard race. While sleep seems on the docket for Santarsiero in the days to come, he has not officially announced a game plan moving forward.

State Rep. Tina Davis of Bristol Township came out towards the end of the evening to share a moment with Santarsiero, remarking to LevittownNow.com that the district had “missed out on a class act” by not electing him.

While the banquet hall cleared out immensely following Santarsiero’s speech, few supporters chose to gather around the televisions to monitor the presidential race. Clinton-Kaine supporters marked that the possible  Trump victory was incredibly unexpected and that it reminded them of the 2000 election year. Numerous Democratic supporters stressed their anxiety and disappointment over the situation before parting ways.
