As the Council Rock School District and Newtown Township Police Department continue their investigation of various cases of vandalism and harassment reported at Council Rock High School North in Newtown Township following the results of last week’s presidential election, the district will allow the community to talk it out this week.

According to an email sent by district administration, community discussions about last week’s reported vandalism and harassment will be up for discussion Monday and Tuesday from 7 p.m. until 9 p.m. at the Chancellor Center in Newtown Borough.

“Please feel free to come with any questions, concerns, and continuing thoughts you have, and I’ll look forward to the opportunity to engage in this way. There will be no formal presentations per se – just authentic discussion about how we can best take care of the children of our school community,” Superintendent Dr. Robert Fraser wrote in an email to parents.

In addition, the administration made an announcement to students on Friday about the incidents, support staff and faculty are meeting to discuss how to best help students with positives discussions, grade-level meetings are being held with high school students Monday and Tuesday and input from students is being sought, officials said.

Council Rock High School North gained attention last week after swastikas were found drawn in the building, someone wrote “I Love Trump” with a derogatory comment about people who are gay and a Latina student found a note telling her to return to Mexico in her backpack.

“We are better than this, and ours is a community that must be based upon a mutual respect for ALL people, and ALL of Council Rock,” Fraser wrote last week.
