The Bucks County-owned bridge on East Brownsburg Road that crosses the Jericho Creek in Upper Makefield has reopened after being rehabilitated.

On Wednesday, Bucks County Commissioner Chairman Charley Martin and Upper Makefield officials cut the ceremonial ribbon on the rehabilitated bridge.

The bridge was repaired for a little over $500,000 buy Clearwater Construction Inc. of Mercer County. Work on the project began in September and was recently finished. Bucks County spokesman Chris Edwards noted the project was completed in under 60 days.

The 46-foot- by 16-foot bridge, which is officially called Bucks County Bridge No. 280, was repaired due to deterioration of the concrete beams, the deck and abutments and pier along the stream bed, officials said.

The work to the bridge included repair of concrete T-beams and underside of the deck, repair and modification of concrete brush curbs, installation of structure mounted and approach guide rail, repointing of stone masonry abutments and wingwalls, stream channel cleaning, backfilling of scour holes and repaving of the deck and its approaches, according to a county press release.

Design and permitting for the project was completed by  McCormick Taylor of Exton, Chester County, with oversight provided by Bucks County’s bridge consultant, Carroll Engineering Corporation of Warrington.

The bridge was originally built in 1920.
