Upper Makefield police are advising residents after a suspicious incident Tuesday afternoon in the township.
Police said a resident in the 1600 block of Wrightstown Road said two men – both white males in orange T-shirts, one his in 20s and another in his 40s – came to their door asking if the resident would be interested in free solar panels. In order to offer the free solar panels, the men would need to access the home’s attic, the two subjects told the resident.
The resident did not allow the two subjects into his home and requested a brochure or more information. The subjects did not produce more information or a brochure and drove off in a newer-model Ford Mustang.
Police said they have no solicitation permits on record and they have only received one report of the two solar panel peddlers.
“This may be legitimate despite the suspiciousness of the incident or it may have been an attempt at a distraction type burglary. Either way, we would like to speak with these gentlemen, so if they show up at your residence, please give us a call,” police said.
