The owners of the popular Pineville Tavern in Wrightstown are planning to open a second location in Philadelphia’s popular Fishtown neighborhood.

Father and son restaurateurs Andrew and Drew Abruzzese are partnering with real estate entrepreneur Allan Domb, also a city council person, to open their new venture at 2448 East Huntington Street. The two-story, 2,500-square-foot building will be transformed into The Pineville, a bar, restaurant and lounge.

The Abruzzeses will be take the former Yesterday’s Tavern, which has been empty since the neighborhood bar closed more than a year ago. The goal is to have The Pineville serve “elevated tavern fare” and some of the most popular items from The Pineville Tavern in Wrightstown. Drew Abruzzese said the new eatery and bar will feature homemade ravioli, steak, crab cakes, fried chicken and the award-winning Million Dollar Bacon Burger.

In addition to good eats, The Pineville will feature eight to 10 locally-brewed craft beers on tap along with Miller High Life, PBR and local favorites Schaefer, Schmidt’s and Schlitz.

The Pineville will have a Steinway concert grand piano on loan from Frederick “Babe” Koslowski of the landmark Babe’s Steakhouse in Port Richmond in Philadelphia as the centerpiece of the second-floor lounge area.

“We’re excited to be building something really special in a part of the city that is undergoing an incredible transformation, which also pays homage to the corner bar culture that was a huge part of Philadelphia’s history for the past 100 years,” Andrew Abruzzese said.

The city location is expected to open in spring 2017. The Abruzzeses will continue to operate The Pineville Tavern in Wrightstown as they have for 27 years.
