This Year, Help Older Kids & Teens Have A Happy Holiday

The United Way of Bucks County and NewtownPANow.com are working together this holiday season to help collect gift cards for older children and teenagers who are often harder to shop for and sometimes overlooked.

United Way of Bucks County officials estimate that hundreds of area kids over the age of 13 receive few to no age appropriate gifts around the holiday season. This year, we’re hoping you can help change that by supporting the United Way of Bucks County’s Holiday Gift Card Drive.

The gift cards will allow older kids and teens in need the chance to go out with their friends and get something they really want.

“Every kid deserves to feel special during the holidays and deserves a gift no matter what their age,” said Shannon Hibbs, Pennsbury LYFT Community Mobilizer. “I think a lot of the time people focus on the younger kids and older kids get lost in the mix. This is such an easy way to make the holidays great for an older kid.”

Once donated gift cards are collected, they are distributed to hundreds of older kids and teens in need throughout Bucks County, many in the Levittown area.

Gift cards to clothing stores, fast food eateries, coffee shops and entertainment stores are ideal for older kids and teens.

The United Way of Bucks County, which is based in Fairless Hills, will accept gift cards of all denominations, starting at $5, now through December 16. All donations go to local teens and older kids who are experiencing a true need this holiday season.

Last year, 455 older kids and teens received gift cards due to the generosity of others.

There are three ways for members of the community to help with this project:

  1. Bring gift cards to our office: United Way of Bucks County, 413 Hood Blvd., Fairless Hills, PA, 19030;
  2. Mail in a check with “Gift Card Drive” on the memo line;
  3. Visit www.uwbucks.org/donate and target your donation to the holiday gift card drive.
