With a late fall blast of extended cold weather forecasted for this week, the Bucks County Bucks County Emergency Management Agency joined the Bucks County Health Department in issuing a “Code Blue” declaration.
The Code Blue will cover the period between Wednesday at 7 p.m. and Saturday at 7 p.m.
County officials have alerted the local on-call Code Blue church, Emmaus Road Lutheran Church at 2185 Bristol-Oxford Valley Road in Middletown’s Levittown section, and Advocates for the Homeless and Those in Need, the local nonprofit who runs the shelter during Code Blue. Outside of Lower Bucks County, Warwick Presbyterian Church and Quakertown Masonic Lodge are the county’s two other Code Blue shelters.
Bucks County Emergency Management Director Scott Forster and Bucks County Department of Health Director Dr. David Damsker”advise all residents to be aware of another period of severe weather conditions. County residents are urged to check on their elderly neighbors during this period of frigid weather. Caution also should be taken with pets during extremely cold temperatures,” officials said in a press release.
