A pay raise is coming to substitute teachers in the Council Rock School District.
The school board voted Thursday evening to increase substitute pay from $80 to $100 per day. After 40 days in the district, substitutes will make $105 per day.
Council Rock has gone from a 90 percent fill rate for substitutes in 2013 to around 60 percent this year, District Human Resources Director Christine Trioli said.
The human resource director said she’s not sure if the pay raise will completely stop the substitute shortage.
Trioli said the district has worked hard to find more substitutes and have expanded their recruitment efforts to draw more temporary teachers.
