It’s been a feed mill, a general store, a hotel and currently is one of the Newtown-area’s most popular eateries.

The Pineville Tavern is celebrating its 275th birthday this year. On Monday, the Abruzzese family, who has owned the popular restaurant and bar on Durham Road in Wrightstown, will kick off celebrating the anniversary with the community.

The eatery will be offering $2.75 cheeseburgers (get it? 275 years) all day Monday to celebrate the birthday.

Starting Wednesday, January 11 through Tuesday, January 31, The Pineville Tavern will offer a handful of menu items at 1989 prices during lunch service in honor of the year the Abruzzese family bought the eatery from the Turner brothers –  Hugh, Jack, and Joe. Among the food where the prices will set to 1989 levels are the famous snapper soup, prime rib dip house-made ravioli and half-pound cheeseburgers.

“This is a landmark year for our family and for the tavern, and we decided to mark it in a big way to show our appreciation to our loyal customers who’ve supported us all of these years,” said chef Drew Abruzzese, who operates the eatery his father bought in 1989.

Drew Abruzzese’s parents are still involved the popular business that he runs.

The Pineville Tavern has been featured on Food Network’s “Diner, Drive-In and Dives” and is among the oldest continuously operating taverns in the nation, serving customers since 1742.
