Predicted snow totals for the Newtown area were increased by forecasters early Saturday afternoon.

By Saturday evening, the Newtown area is expected to see between 2 to 6 inches of snow, which is an increase from the 1 to 3 inches initially expected.

The area was placed under a Winter Storm Advisory until 6 p.m.

The storm started later than initially predicted and had already dumped about two inches on the area by late morning.

Area roads were partly snow covered as of Saturday afternoon.
