Multiple Injuries, Including To A Child, In Saturday Evening Crash


An 11-year-old girl was among the injured in a Saturday evening wreck.

The two-vehicle crash happened around 6:25 p.m. on Swamp Road south of Twining Bridge Road in Newtown Township.

Officers arrived to find a woman pinned by the vehicle’s dashboard and the 11 -year-old girl in the same car with what were described by police as “obvious injuries.”

Volunteer firefighters from the Newtown Fire Association worked for just under 30 minutes to rescue the woman pinned by the dashboard while Temple University’s medical helicopter that is based in Doylestown was called to transport the 11 year old to Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia.

The sole occupant of the other car, a man of unreleased age and hometown, also suffered injuries but was not trapped, police said.

The two adult drivers of the vehicles were taken to St. Mary Medical Center in Middletown for treatment by the Newtown Ambulance Squad.

The conditions of the victims were not released.

As of Monday afternoon, the wreck remained under investigation by township police.
