Police Log: Identity Theft, Credit Card Fraud & DUI

Newtown Township

February 15

Identity Theft

A Newtown Township resident reported that someone attempted to open a credit card account in his name. Since the complainant is already an account holder with the company, he confirmed that the action was unauthorized.  In addition, several more attempts to create new accounts with different credit providers were attempted, but were unsuccessful.

DUI

At approximately 3:45 p.m., police were dispatched to the area of Durham and Wrights Roads for the report of careless driver. Officers observed the vehicle stopped in the parking lot of the Newtown Shopping Center.  After a brief investigation the officers determined that the driver, 38-year-old Niccole Loveland of Newtown Township was incapable of safe driving.  She was taken into custody and transported to Saint Mary Medical Center where she refused to allow blood to be drawn for analysis.  Charges of DUI are pending.  

February 20

Fraud

Shortly before 9 a.m., a resident of Newtown Township reported that she received notification that unknown persons had used her credit card information at a hotel in Florida. The victim was advised to make sure that the card was cancelled and that she would not be charged and to also call the hotel and have them notify the local police of the credit card fraud.
