Congressman Brian Fitzpatrick will be making a silent but visible statement during President Donald Trump address before a joint session of congress Tuesday night.

Fitzpatrick, a  moderate Republican from Middletown, will be joining fellow members of the Congressional Problem Solvers Caucus in wearing No Labels’ “Fix Not Fight” lapel pin. His office said the “small but meaningful gesture highlights Fitzpatrick’s constant mission to unite the 115th Congress.”

In addition, Fitzpatrick is asking his freshman colleagues of both parties to sit together during Trump’s address. The congressman’s idea is to unite members of both parities around “common goals and build an atmosphere of civility,” according to statement.

“I understand there are differences between Democrats and Republicans.  But on the issues where there is common ground, we must move forward together.  I’m committed to working with any member of this Congress to break this cycle and make government work for the American people once more,” Fitzpatrick said.

Earlier this month, Fitzpatrick sent a letter to Trump that stated a bipartisan group of legislators were ready to work with the new administration on both tax reform and rebuilding America’s crumbling infrastructure.
