Around 1,000 people grouped together on Saturday in support of President Donald Trump.

The event at Neshaminy State Park in Bensalem was organized through Bucks County-based People4Trump. Around the country, rallies in support of the controversial Republican president were held weeks after he suggested supporters to do so.

“I feel that there were enough people demonstrating against our president, and people should know that there are people who love him, too,” said Karl Harpel, who traveled from Telford Borough to support and participate in the rally.

Harpel believes that Trump has the people’s best interest at his heart. “I think that is what we need,” he said.

Harpel’s sentiments regarding Trump serving the interests of the entire nation were echoed by Jim Worthington, owner of the Newtown Athletic Club and an organizer for the rally.

“If this isn’t a great day to be an American, I don’t know what day is,” Worthington said to an excited crowd.

Throughout his statements, Worthington stressed the need to accept opposing viewpoints and said that there is no way to make America great again until every citizen is prospering.

A number of other speakers were on site, including guest emcee Erin Elmore and Joe DeFelice. Elmore was on The Apprentice and her work has been featured on a number of news networks. Joe DeFelice is the chairman of the Philadelphia Republican Party.

The rally featured positive support for what Trump has accomplished so far, and what he plans to do in the future. The characteristic “lock her up” chants and boos at the mention of the mainstream media were found, similar to Trunp rallies leading up to the election.

“We have been here since the beginning,” said Barry and Tracy Delagol.

“I think [the rally] is necessary because when people visualize the people at these rallies, it seems there is a lot of negativity. You need to be here to see the positivity,” Tracy Delagol said.

Trump’s White House bid was Tracy’s first real foray into politics, and her involvement there made her realize that getting involved can make a difference. “You can really make a difference if you participate,” she said.

A lot of the protesters mentioned the opposition Trump has received in his first month and a half as a reason for braving the cold for a rally.

“[We are] showing support for our president and our love for the country,” said Barbara Turner from Bensalem.

“It’s nice to be out here with all of the other Trump supporters who share similar sentiments,” said Andrew Saukumneuth.

In all, the rally maintained a positive tone. In addition, it honored veterans and women who support Trump and most of all, showed support for the new president.
