Police Log: Burglary, Suspected DUI & More

March 11

Fraud

Shortly after 5:30 p.m., a resident of Wrightstown Township called police to report that she received an email from a Sprint store regarding fraudulent charges on her Sprint account that occurred earlier in the day.  The victim explained that someone had purchased multiple cell phones and additional equipment valued at more than $5,000 using her cell phone number.  The suspect paid for the items with a credit card and provided identification in the victim’s name.  The victim was concerned that she would be responsible for the monthly fees because she has direct billing with her credit card.  The credit card has been cancelled and the situation remains under investigation.

March 12

Suspected DUI

At approximately 12:15 a.m., an officer observed a vehicle being driven in an unsafe manner on Frost Lane near Lower Dolington Road.  The officer stopped the motorist on Stanford Drive and the driver was identified as 58 year-old Susanne Harris of in Newtown.  After an investigation the officer formed the opinion that Harris was operating a vehicle and incapable of safe driving.  She was taken into custody and transported to St. Mary Medical Center in Middletown where she agreed to a blood draw, which will be submitted to the lab for analysis.  Charges of DUI are pending the lab results.

March 13

Found Bicycle

Shortly after 8 a.m., police responded to Northrup Court to meet with a resident who reported finding a bicycle.  The bicycle was turned over to the responding officer and it is being stored at police headquarters and will be release if the owner will calls and identifies it.  

Fraud

A resident of Newtown Grant came to police headquarters at 11:25 am to file a report regarding fraud.  The victim told police that on February 24, 2017 she received a letter in the mail from the Internal Revenue Service advising her that someone may have attempted to use her name and social security number and she may be a victim of identity theft.  The letter gave the complainant numerous ways and information to protect her identity from fraud including filing a police report.

Burglary

Police were dispatched to a residence on Rushland Road around 2:20 p.m. for an alarm activation.  When police arrived they discovered that one of the doors had been forced open.  There was no one in or around the home and detectives responded to process the scene.     

March 15

Fraud

A resident of Newtown Crossing came to police headquarters at 2:10 p.m. to report that his bank account had been compromised by unknown persons.  The victim said that the routing and checking account numbers were used to access the account and make the transactions which totaled more than $4,000.  The situation remains under investigation.
