More than 300 people registered for the second annual Newtown Shamrock Shuffle 5K race.

The race was a success in every way, but the rain didn’t hold off. Despite the weather, racers appeared to be enjoying the festivities.

Those racing were raising money for different charities and at the end, runners got to warm up inside the Green Parrot with food and drink.

“Weather happens no matter what,” said racer Chris from Richboro.

Others were just as stalwart in their resolution to run.

Todd from Newtown Township admitted that he might not have come out if it were snowing or icing, but rain he could deal with.

The race was staged by Boss Events, a Newtown-grown and operated business.

“We wanted to basically make it an Irish festival weekend,” explained Carly Bovell, the race director for Boss Events.

In addition to running the race, each runner received a medal, a shirt, access to the festivities throughout the day at the Green Parrot along a free drink at the bar.
